Privacy
Updated October 3, 2026
Digital Live Zoo is a free page of live animal cams. There are no accounts, and we never ask for your name, email or payment details. This page explains what is collected when you visit, and by whom.
Video from YouTube
Every cam plays in YouTube’s embedded player, straight from the cam owner’s channel. When a player loads, YouTube receives information such as your IP address and browser details, and may set cookies, under Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not show cams that their owners mark as made for kids.
Visit statistics
We use PostHog to count visits and see which features are used: which cams go on the Main Stage, which filters are picked, and when a wall is opened. It records an anonymous visitor ID, not who you are. We use this only to improve the zoo, and to show on the home page how many people are visiting: those are totals only, never who or where anyone is.
Weather beside each cam comes from MET Norway. Our server asks for the forecast at each camera's location; your browser only loads the finished numbers from us, so nothing about you is sent to MET Norway.
The zoo map on the home page loads its map images from OpenFreeMap (map data © OpenStreetMap contributors) and its map code from cdnjs, only when you scroll down to the map. Like any website, those servers see your IP address when they send the images; they get nothing else from us.
Advertising
The page may show one ad at the top, served by Google AdSense. No ads appear inside or over the video.
- Google and other ad companies use cookies to show ads based on your earlier visits to this site and to other sites.
- Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners choose ads for you based on those visits. How Google uses data from sites that use its services.
- You can turn off personalized ads in Google’s My Ad Center. You can also opt out of personalized ads from many other ad companies at aboutads.info.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form, what you write, and your name and email if you give them, are stored with PostHog together with the visit statistics. We use them only to answer you and to fix the zoo, and we delete them on request.
Zoo Chat
The chat is one public room: anything you write there is seen by everyone on the site, so please don't share anything personal. There are no accounts. You get a random animal name, and each message shows which cam you had on your stage. The last 50 messages are kept for at most 24 hours, then deleted.
To stop spam and abuse, the chat server works with a scrambled code (a hash) made from your internet address and the date. The code changes every day and your address itself is not stored. It is used to limit how fast and from how many tabs one person can write, and to mute someone for 24 hours when several people report their messages. Before you join, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are not a bot; Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to that check. Links, e-mail addresses, phone numbers and @handles cannot be posted.
Stored on your device
Your browser keeps the cams you add to your wall, a list of cams that cannot play outside YouTube, your chat animal name and the chat messages you reported, so the page remembers them next time. This stays on your device; clearing site data removes it.
Children
The zoo is made for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
